Longevity is part of sustainability
If well looked after, an investment in a high-quality Hobson’s Choice kitchen, bathroom or living space should last 20 years or more. We design with this predicted lifespan in mind, creating understated and timeless spaces that transcend short-lived interior fashions.
What this means is our clients will still be enjoying their kitchen or bathroom for many years to come and won’t feel the need to refresh or renovate – saving energy and resources.

- LED lighting is used to reduce electricity consumption.
- Dedicated recycling points separate packaging and recyclable materials.
- Drawings and project documentation are increasingly shared digitally to reduce unnecessary printing.
- Online meetings are used where they remove an unnecessary journey without compromising the design process.
- Quooker boiling-water taps help avoid repeatedly boiling more water than is required.
- Selected low-flush sanitaryware reduces water use in studio cloakrooms.

Delivery and installation
Our responsibility continues beyond the design studio. Deliveries and installation visits are planned carefully so that products, packaging and people move to and from site as efficiently as practical.
On the Road
- Our vehicle fleet has been renewed with more fuel-efficient vans where appropriate.
- Deliveries and installation visits are coordinated to reduce unnecessary journeys.
On site
- Furniture and appliance packaging is separated and removed from site where practical.
- Recyclable materials are sorted for the appropriate waste streams.
- Careful surveying and technical preparation help reduce avoidable remakes, replacement components and repeat visits.

Recommended Suppliers
The environmental impact of the products we specify depends heavily on the manufacturers that make them.
When reviewing suppliers, we look at factors such as material sourcing, manufacturing processes, product durability, packaging, waste reduction, energy use and the availability of replacement parts or servicing.
Where manufacturers publish specific environmental policies, certifications or performance information, we aim to make that information available on the relevant product or brand pages.
