Luxury Kitchen in Sand-Beige Gold

Part of a wider renovation, this bulthaup b3 kitchen reworks an awkward layout to create more space for cooking, storage and everyday life.

More room to cook, without compromising the flow

The clients wanted to be more adventurous with their cooking, but the existing kitchen offered limited preparation space and storage. As part of a wider multi-room renovation, the opportunity was to rethink the layout completely; creating a more functional kitchen while carefully considering movement through an unusually shaped room that narrows towards the patio doors.

The Design

Opening up an awkward layout

Rather than keeping the kitchen confined to one corner of the room, the new layout uses a central island to bring the working area further into the space.

Its position was carefully considered around the angled walls and the route towards the patio doors, allowing people to move naturally through the room without interrupting someone cooking.

The island also creates a more sociable arrangement, giving the clients considerably more space for preparation while opening the kitchen towards the adjoining dining area

The Design

Designed around the way they cook

Storage was an important part of the new design, with deep drawers incorporated on both sides of the island to keep crockery, cookware, utensils and everyday essentials close to where they are used.

The cooking area is positioned directly on the island, allowing preparation and cooking to take place at the centre of the room rather than against a wall. A BORA Professional cooktop with integrated downdraft extraction removes the need for an overhead extractor, preserving the openness of the space and views across the room.

Warm metallic tones against a quiet backdrop

Sand-beige Gold aluminium gives the island its distinctive character, changing subtly as natural light moves across the surface. The warmer metallic finish is balanced by Kaolin cabinetry and a slim 10mm worktop, creating a calm backdrop rather than competing with the clients’ collection of colourful artwork.

Behind the island, the appliances are arranged horizontally at a comfortable working height, while the adjoining dining space takes advantage of the natural light from the patio doors.

Together, the restrained kitchen palette and stronger decorative pieces give the room a balance of precision and personality.

The Details

Kitchen & Materials

The bulthaup b3 furniture combines Sand-beige Gold aluminium with Kaolin laminate, creating a contrast between the warmer metallic island and the quieter cabinetry behind. A slim 10mm bulthaup b3 worktop, also finished in Kaolin laminate, continues the restrained palette across the working surfaces.

Appliances

Cooking is centred around a BORA Professional induction cooktop with integrated downdraft extraction, allowing the island to remain free from an overhead cooker hood. Miele appliances provide the principal cooking, cooling and cleaning functions and are arranged horizontally at an accessible working height.

Everyday Function

A Quooker Fusion provides instant boiling water at the sink, while deep drawers on both sides of the island significantly increase the kitchen’s storage capacity. Crockery, cookware, utensils and cutlery can all be kept close to the main preparation and cooking area, helping the kitchen work efficiently day to day.
